Tiptoeing through the tulips

It's finally Spring and the parks in NYC are filled with gorgeous tulips!
Everything is in full bloom and feels alive.
I can't believe we can actually Tip Toe through the Tulips in NYC.
Country Boy saw me admiring all the gorgeous flowers in the park,
so he surprised me with some Tulips of my very own!

Happy Spring!

Peonies & Lilacs

City Belle's favorite flowers are Pink Peonies.  So, I decided to surprise her with some on Monday.  Here's a shot of the bouquet before the peonies blossomed.  The bulbs are still tight here.
After a couple of days... Voila! they opened up!

Basking in the sun
These beauties have lasted all week.  They sure do brighten up the apartment.
Happy Friday!
Have a great weekend!

B.Y.O.V.

FlowerSchool New York is an exceptionally ran facility located right in the heart of Tudor City.  Periodically they have classes and events.  Recently they had an abundance of flowers left over from said events.  On their Twitter they announced if you were in the area you could come by and make your own bouquet.  Seriously? City Belle is going to LOVE this.  All I had to do was BYOV
"Bring Your Own Vase!"

☝This is what I was working with.☟
They had every flower imaginable; from Purple Japanese Orchids to Yellow and Pink Roses, they had it covered.  It was up to me to create a MASTERPIECE!  Nah, I'm kidding.  I was actually really nervous b/c I knew they were professionals and I was a novice.  Not to worry though as they were very nice and accommodating at FSNY.  They provided this ol' Country Boy with shears, scissors, and a plethora of flowers.
I was the 1st person there with a Vase.
Smiley
My humble creation. Honestly I did my best and went with it.  I saw their yellow rose bouquet in the window so I started with those and went from there.  That's my bouquet in the window on the 1st pic in the blog...I just didn't tell you.
 How does it lQQk?
Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

After the other flowers withered away I made our own smaller bouquet of yellow roses.  These ended up lasting almost 3 weeks:
-cut roses at a 45º degree angle,
 -boil the tips in water,
 -place in a vase,
 -fill with warm/hot water,
-re-fill new clean water daily.
Those suckers will live forever if you do that.
Yes, BOIL the tips of the Roses, but only Roses.
2 Weeks Old
A HUGE thank you to FlowerSchool New York for their giving spirit.

Love is in the Air

It's Valentine's Week and Love is in the Air in NYC.  Country Boy and I celebrate February since, that is when he proposed.  So, Valentine's Day ends up being more of a commercial thing, but we like to celebrate the anniversary of the day he popped the question.

Hope you have a great Monday!

Happy Valentine's Week!

Japanese Sweet Peas

We have the fortunate experience of living next to FlowerSchool New York where they have a multitude of events throughout each week.  These beauties are imported from Japan and have been incorporated into Matthew Robbins Design recently.   I'm a Country Boy so I like to talk to everybody and I have developed a friendly relationship with the owners of FSNY over the years.  Sometimes they will periodically give us free flowers!   How cool is that?  You truly get more with sugar than vinegar.

I learned this 45º degree angle trick at the W Hotel on Lexington avenue when I used to bartend there.  I like being different and there's no need to be like everyone else.  If everyone else is doing it then that's a heck of a good reason not too.
A special thank you goes out to FlowerSchool New York for always making our little apartment more enjoyable.  Flowers really do make a BIG difference in the room...any room. They have a magnetic quality about them.  I guess it's the whole "something from nothing" idea.  That tiny seed grows into a majestic beauty....sorta like us!

Purple Haze

It's been sortof grey here in Gotham; I thought to liven it up I would get City Belle some Tulips.  She loves purple......

It's been raining all week here in NYC, so I thought these Sunflowers would cheer you up.
