Blog Love

via theglamoroushousewife.com
As a (sometimes (OK, let's face it) practically never) blogger, you aspire to be as great as some of the amazing Bloggers, Designers, Stylists out there.
Enter Mrs Lilien.
She is a talented & uber stylish Author, Graphic Designer, Stylist, Blogger, Extraordinaire
via Mrs. Lilien
I love her style and was thrilled when my sister bought me the
Mrs Lilien cocktail swatchbook for Christmas.

I love Design Books and I kind of have a thing for Autographed copies.
Check out a few of my meet and greets here and here

So, as I was riding the bus to work and I saw this on Twitter
and it all started...
I was on Cloud 9 at the thought of getting Mrs Lilien to sign my book.
But, also I was worried she would think I was a little "stalker-ish".
So, Country Boy and I went to Soho after work to drop off my book.
Being Southern, I did not want to show up empty handed, so I stopped by
Baked by Melissa to pick up a little treat for Mrs Lilien.

After we dropped off the book, I received the best tweet!

The next day we went back to retrieve the book and I was amazed at how thoughtful and sweet Mrs Lilien was to take the time to sign my beloved book.

Although, I didn't get the opportunity to meet her, I was truly flattered!

UPDATE:
Mrs. Lilien was back in NYC last night at Bergdorf Goodman's on 5th Ave for a Restorsea Event. #restorseaatbg
So, I ran to the event after work in hopes of finally meeting her.
(wow I look really tired) Mrs Lilien looks amazing!
She was so sweet!  So glad, I finally got to meet her!

Parisian Chic, Laduree

Knowing how much we love sweets around here, we finally made it to Maison Laduree on the Upper East Side for their famous French Macarons.

We went on a Saturday, so there was line to get in, but it was definitely worth the wait.
The boutique is so Chic and French in every way.  The Macaron trees were gorgeous.

Everything was pastel and perfect.

Everything was so gorgeous, it was so hard to chose what we wanted.

Laduree Menu via Facebook
We bought a small box of these flavors:
Orange Blossom
Melon
Strawberry Candy
Salted Caramel
Dark Chocolate
Coffee

I was tiptoeing through the Tulips on Park Ave with my Laduree bag in tow.

Have you tried Laduree?

Grown Up Ice Cream Truck

Van Leeuwen
My grandfather had a General Store and I grew up as a Kid in a Candy Shop.
He had candy and treats and best of all...Ice Cream.
Hence my love for ice cream began.
So now that Spring is here and Summer is approaching I thrive for that
delightful dessert, that makes me feel like a kid again.

In NYC, there are tons of ice cream options, but Van Leeuwen is top on the list.
It's an Ice Cream truck for Grown Ups!
Van Leeuwen
They are an Artisan Ice Cream establishment using only the freshest ingredients and all natural flavors.  The Flavors are absolutely pure and delicious.
Van Leeuwen
They Van Leeuwen truck was parked outside my office the other day and I ran to get some ice cream, unfortunately it was a private event, so they wouldn't serve me.  :(

But that's OK, I'm destined to have my ice cream fix very soon.

Do you love ice cream as much as me?
Have any favorites in the city?

Run for Your Life

Hey y'all! It's Country Boy and just wanted to let you know I've lived in the City for 1O years, and have watched in vain the runners who gallop throughout this concrete jungle. I always sort-of laughed at them in a way. Thought they were nuts ya know? But times are a changin' as I am down 5O pounds....from running. But the 1st thing you must do is invest in your foundation(feet). I rec something like this:
Nike Air Max 2013 Collection

Nike+ has a neat app that allows you to compete w/ fellow runners/friends and keep track of your times, distance and calories burned. It even tracks and maps your elevation. It's super intense and it's basically the reason I'm typing this.
The psychologically addictive nature the app provided was enough to motivate me to become a better runner, and in they process a better person for having accomplished my goal.
They give you medals for goals you set. Like 24 miles a week. It's up to you as to how hard you want to push yourself. Yes, it's very addictive. Download the app here.

follow your bliss,

Country Boy

NFL Draft 2012 NYC

Near Bryant Park on 42nd and 6th avenue the NFL opened up a POP-UP shop.  It's super cool so I thought I would go by today. Here's a link to the shop here.

Eddie George from the Tennessee Titans.
 J-E-T-S!
NFL Cups
Mike Hill of ESPN

They had an operational table set up that went through the process of making an Official NFL Football.  They were $100 bucks so I let them keep it.
Here's the step-by-step:
Sewing the seam
 Tying the laces
Finally they bake "The Duke" in an oven.
Crazy right?!?!?

Country Boy & Eddie George

Go if you get a chance.

all the best,

~Country Boy
