Midnight Manhattan

Where I'm from in North Carolina, we have Alan Jackson's, Midnight in Montgomery.  A song about Hank Williams Sr. in a smokey haze of winter chill.  'When the wind is right you'll hear his songs smell whiskey in the air.  Midnight in Montgomery he's always singing there.'  It still to this day is one of the best videos I've ever seen.  I like the manner in which the videographer shoots the music video.  It's spooky, but not dark and scary.  There's a fine line between the two.  I guess this was my motivation behind these City Shots I did. I hope you enjoy them.  I apologize for some of them being crooked as I didn't bring my tri-pod w/ me that night.
This is shot from Long Island City, Queens.  I took the 7 train from Grand Central Terminal to Jackson Ave and walked just a few blocks to the pier.  When I got there I was taken aback by the sheer beauty of New York.  Manhattan is a tough town, but she is a gorgeous City and I'm very thankful to live here.  During Christmas time the City is so festive and everyone's a little nicer and a little friendlier...but just a little.

Grainy B/W is a post edit function on my camera.  I can actually shoot in B/W as well.  I really enjoy photography and recommend it to anyone who needs a hobby or a self-esteem booster.  Taking a photo is a lot like instant gratification.  You snap it, post it to Facebook, people like it, you feel good! Everybody wins!

That's the Chrysler Building; and the blue steeple flanking its left is the Bank of America Tower based out of Charlotte, North Carolina.  The large-lit building (center) is the United Nations.

That's the Queensboro Bridge on East 59th Street.  It takes you to...you guessed it, Queens from Manhattan.
Look Mom! I'm walking on water.
A lot of times Gotham can be a prison of decadence, a City that enabled me to photograph a rock show one night and cook homemade halibut another. It's a catch-22 living in Manhattan but it's an awesome place, it's as simple as that.

until next time,

P.S. If you steal any of these pictures, karma angels will steal from your soul(just kidding)...at least ask MDK Global Design Studios for permission before ganking my photos..

  1. Beautiful pictures. I miss NYC. It's been a few years since I've been. My dad is from LI and we used to go up to visit family more often and go in to the city. I have an aunt who lived in Brooklyn, but she has since moved South to be closer to us. I'm as Southern as they come but I just LOVE LOVE LOVE that city.

  2. When I visited NEW York City, I fell in love instantly!! Wish there was some way I could afford to live there. With a teacher salary I do not see that ever happening. My dream is to at least return there during the Christmas season. You are very fortunate to live there and being exposed to all that wonderful culture. Thank you for sharing!!
