Into the Blue

Kate Spade
I can't believe August is almost over.  The summer has really flown by and Fall is just around the corner.  As usual, time to check out Kate Spade's color of the month-Blue. You can see all the other colors of the month for March, April, May, June, and  July.
Here are some of my favorite Blue items...
(clockwise from top)
Streets of New York Bon Shopper
About Town Idiom Bangle
Streets of New York Large Natalie
Knightsbridge Helena
Charm Shoes
Lynx Bracelet

My Birthday is coming up, so I definitely have some of these on my wishlist.
Kate Spade has also teamed up with Current & Elliott for a new Westward collection.
The ad campaign is super cool.
I had to stop by the 5th Ave store to check out all the Blue items and
Drooling over this sequin duffle bag.

The collection and the store windows were amazing.  I am in love with the Sequin duffle bag, but it's over $1000.  A bit too pricey for me, but still absolutely gorgeous!

Until next time,

Savage Beauty

The Met
I did it!  I had the amazing opportunity to see the Savage Beauty exhibit before it left town forever, and guess what the best part is...I didn't have to wait in the 3-6 hour line!!!

When I arrived, this is what I saw- a sign that said a 3 hour wait time
and a a ton of people waiting in line.  Of course I procrastinated like the rest of NY to see the exhibit on Thursday before it closed.  However, my friend is a member and she invited me to go with her, which meant we got to skip this line....
Savage Beauty was the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met Museum that ended August 7th.  For those of you not familiar with McQueen, he was a famous fashion designer known for his eccentric designs and masterful creativity.  Unfortunately, he committed suicide in 2010.
His fashion house,  under Sarah Burton's design direction, created the wedding dress for the royal wedding in April.

So, the exhibit at NY's Met was a BIG DEAL!
So big that the wait in line averaged 3-6 hours!
This is the wait just outside the Met,

and keeps going!!!!  Can you believe this line?!?!
The Met
The exhibit was amazing.  McQueen was truly ahead of the curve.
The Met
This was the 1st room of the exhibit that showcased McQueen's expert tailoring skills.
It was true craftsmanship.
The Met
This was the Scottish inspired room.
The Met
This was the Lady Gaga room.  Ha!  Just Kidding!
Doesn't it look just like a Lady Gaga outfit?
 This was his futuristic look.
The Met
This was one of my Favorite pieces.  You could own this tailored jacket now and it would still look amazing and fresh 25 years from now, not to mention, fit like a glove.
The Met
This dress was another one of my favorites, it is made out of sea shells that have been filed down.
How amazing is that?

The exhibit was great.  Props to the Met for bringing such an amazing collection to NYC.  I feel very fortunate that I got to see it and did not spend 4 hours in line!

Until next time,

Earthquakepocalypse-NYC

As you all know most of the East Coast had an Earthquake and we totally freaked out.  So much so the West coast has been picking on us, even Dennis Miller got in on the joke saying, "Really all this excitement over a 5.8 quake??? Come on East Coast, we have those for breakfast out here!!!!"
 FDR
 I better turn around....

It's a GHOST-TOWN!

I did find one fatality though.
East River Ferry high-tailin' it outta here!

Earthquake-apocalypse had no effect on these guys!
√ out the lil' burnt orange pigeon in the middle.
 lQQks pretty normal here today......

 Everything ok down there?
I see some CRACKS in the sidewalk!
This guy was outta here!!
Maybe he read this FEMA report!
Here's what it says:
The greatest danger exists directly outside buildings, at exits and alongside exterior walls. Many of the 120 deaths in the 1933 Long Beach earthquake happened when people ran outside only to be killed by falling debris from collapsing buildings. Ground movement during an earthquake is never the direct cause of death or injury. Earthquake related deaths happen from falling walls, flying glass, and  heavy objects.
IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE ON FLAT GROUND....
STAY OUTSIDE ON FLAT GROUND!!!
East 39th street @ 1st Avenue NYC
When building anything in the City construction crews will place small plastic windows in the wooden walls so folks can see inside the vacant lot.  I took some photos after the earthquake and turned them into a collage.  I sure hope you like it; truthfully though it was much ado about nothing here in Gotham.  A few buildings shook, the ground trembled and we went on about our merry way of a rat-race...

Bouquet of Beauty

These were a gift from the owners of Flower School NY for writing our blog entry.
A total surprise!
Smiley

See my lil' bulb here??  She buds out eventually....☝☝☝
See?!?  There She blooms!
The owner of the flower school taught us many tips & tricks.
DYK: When initially cutting the stems do so at a 45º angle, next boil water in a pan and place the stems in the boiling water for 20 seconds. (to open the vessels in the stems) Next pour hot water in the vase.  Yes, HOT water and a little bleach.  Yep you heard me, a few drops of bleach and hot water.  Change the water daily.
These Roses have been with us for nearly 3 weeks.

Honestly it was awesome having living roses exuding authentic aromatic aroma throughout our apartment.  I would've never bought City Belle such a classically styled bouquet as this isn't her style at all.  But beggars can't be choosers and I was very pleased with the surprise given to us by the Flower School NY. City Belle hasn't felt well lately and this brought a welcome smile back on her face.
