City Belle and I had friends in town from North Carolina so we took them to Chris Santos' new spot called Beauty & Essex for brunch. He also owns Stanton Social on the Lower East Side but this is his new restaurant. We always want to take our friends somewhere hip and cool, but also to a spot that has great food. A lot of times in Manhattan restaurants will have good food but poor service and vice versa, so it's nice when you find a welcome balance of both. Here at Beauty & Essex there's not only a balance of good food and great service, but the interior is filled with marvelous decorations and dangling chandeliers. The space is Tri-Level with the restrooms downstairs, the restaurant and bar on the main floor, and a lounge upstairs w/ another bar equating to 1O,OOO square feet of gorgeous-ness! Upstairs there's amazing furniture and vintage jewelry framed in old-school wooden boxes on the walls. The entrance to B&E is a 1950's style inspired Pawn Shop. So be careful you just might miss it.
